Sarah Palin Is Annoying

(NOT a real picture of Sarah Palin)

Of all the intelligent, highly educated women in the Republican Party, Sarah Palin is John McCain's pick—a woman with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Idaho. This is an insult to the women who supported Hillary Clinton. We want the best and brightest women to rise to the top and lead the way. We don't want a consolation prize from a man who obviously doesn't get it.

—Angela Baronello, Chicago

OK, not to be snarky, but is anyone else out there annoyed on a gut level by Sarah Palin? And does anyone else think John McCain has lost his mind?

I overheard someone say, "Maybe Hillary supporters will vote for her!" and I about spit my Diet Coke across the room! It's like just because she's female, we women will go, "Wow! Look how shiny her hair is! I bet we both use Pantene! I'm voting for her!" Do people really think we're that stupid? Seriously, I think another almost-dead white guy would probably do more for women then Sarah Palin.

Right. And Sarah Palin has lots of foreign policy experience because "Alaska is right next door to Russia!" LOL.

And SERIOUSLY, lest I start sounding like some left-wing nut-job, I'm disturbed that this person isn't practicing the family values she espouses. She has a pregnant daughter and a newborn with Down's syndrome. Don't they need her support right now? No one, man or woman, should be running for VP when they've got so many family demands!

And here's an article online about how Sarah Palin went to 5 colleges in 6 years. They didn't come right out and say she was having, er, academic difficulties, but seriously . . . can you even begin to dream up another scenario that would explain that? With John McCain graduating something like 894 out of 899 students, that sounds like a real winning ticket!

You sound like a real "intellectual snob"-- what's wrong with a journalism degree from U. of Idaho?? Ivy League lust is really mostly an East Coast phenomenon. And to assume that because it took 6 years to graduate there was academic difficulty is a poor assumption. Often, it takes young people several years to figure out their life's direction. As far as the number of children, my neighbor, a high-powered NYC lawyer has 5 children. They all seem to be loved and very well cared for. Yes, she had help from her husband, mother and 2 nannies--so what???

Howie and I cannot read enough about Sarah Palin. Something about her as a choice facinates me... well not just something, a lot of things. Where she went to college and her having 5 kids, well, whatever, but the fact that anyone out there who is a Hilary supporter would even be considered to switch sides and vote for a pro-life anyone is absurd. Ok, maybe 3 people will do that, but they are crazy anyway and we don't need them on our side.

OK, even given my audience is generally family and friends, I did find some of my own comments about Sarah a bit harsh (I must have been having a very democrat kinda day). So I have toned down the rhetoric. Thanks for all who posted and appreciate your comments, hope you'll stop back!

I stand by my horrification at the 5 colleges in 6 years, however! I know brilliant people who went to 2 or even 3 -- life sometimes happens when you're making other plans, right? But six is just unacceptable for my future leader, unless you have a damn good story.

Sorry, I in no way intended to knock the U of Idaho or their journalism program (nor I'm sure do the many other posters who have pointed out this fact about Sarah). Nor am I saying I'm a shining example. I went to 2 colleges in 5 years and pretty much majored in Beavis and Butthead. I went on to drop out of law school and graduate a year late from grad school. Work, finances and general lack of direction have all hijacked my education at one time or another . . . but I still feel like five colleges in six years is rather extraordinary! IMHO, FWIW.
